November, 2016

Our monthly meeting will be Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00 pm. All are welcome! Please join us! Bring a friend! We will meet at Panera’s for dinner at 5:30. Our program will be given by Kristen Benjamin – a fun night is planned!

Calling all 2ET and 3ET Wee Care Gowns!

If you are an Extra Extra Tiny or an Extra, Extra, Extra Tiny gown and have been patiently waiting for your smocker to finish you – take heart! There is motivation for her smocking in this urgent message. We have recently filled a hospital order and have sent almost all of our gowns to our littlest angels. So.o.o.o.o we need to quickly replenish our supply of our tiniest gowns. (Our larger gowns would love some company also!) Please let your smocker know that she can either leave you at Lace Cottage or bring you to our next MASG meeting. It will be such fun to join your other 2ET and 3ET gown “friends” again! Thank you so much!

VaP (Vivian and Phyllis) Vibes

Wow!  We just got home from our trip to Houston for the International Quilt Market last weekend.  What a fun and exhausting trip!  We found some new vendors for fabric and notions as well as new products we will be carrying in Lace Cottage. Just so you know- this handcrafted work is alive and well!  There were well over 500 vendors in the Exhibit Hall and we saw every one of them.
As we enter November I reflect on what I am thankful for before I get too busy cooking and cleaning for Thanksgiving Day.  I am very thankful for getting to know each of you in the Smocking Guild, thankful for always learning new sewing/smocking tips and tricks, and thankful for your friendship.  I hope that each of you has a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.  God bless.
See you Tuesday!

P. S. We need to nominate and elect officers for 2017 at our meeting since our December meeting will be our annual Christmas party. Come ready with suggestions for a great slate of 2017 officers!

Program: Kristen Benjamin  Huck towel Swedish needle weaving.

Scissors, 1 skein of DMC floss, tapestry needle. You could use the same color or several complementary colors to make your towel.

Wee Care Gowns Workday– 4th Tuesday of Each Month (January – October)
Many kudos to those working at our last workday of this year –  Amy Johnson, Laurel Andersen, DiAnne Drennan, Jane Soffos, Regina Sanford, Jane Gross, Glynda Whitlow, Connie Scott and Susan Batson.
Remember to mark your calendar for our next workday – Tuesday, January 24th. It will be here before we know it!

Show and Share:

Regina shares this Dedication gown that she lovingly made for a special 9 week old premie!

Virginia shares Tips for Dolls

1. Repurpose those stray adult knee socks to make a pair of tights for your 18" doll!

2. Have a pair of doll shoes with a colored insole that stains your pretty white doll socks? Draw around the sole on card stock and insert into the shoe to check for fit. Cover front and back of the card stock with clear packaging tape and trim off the excess. Slip into the doll shoe and, VoilĂ , no more stained socks!
