Thoughts from Phyllis

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I began the Sunday after Thanksgiving having some of my female cousins on my mother’s side of the family over to bake.  We do this every year and I value our time together more and more each year.  We make recipes that our families have enjoyed over the years and put together boxes of baked goods for each family (15 of us) to enjoy over the season.  That is a lot of loud women in the kitchen!

I am trying to make the Christmas outfits for my grandsons, but they keep coming over to my house!  I am getting very little done.  They are very busy when they are there.  I am thinking it is going to require staying up all night in order to finish.  Ugh!

As I pause and reflect over this past year, I am so thankful for each of you in my life.  I enjoy our time spent together and always learn something new when I am with you!  This is such a special group of women and am so proud to be a member.

May each of you and your family be blessed this holiday season!

See you Tuesday!

Thoughts from Phyllis
It is finally FALL!!  The trees are beautiful!  I could do without the cold, wet weather we have been experiencing but love the sunny days.  I am thankful for this time of year, for the calm before the holiday hustle (some of you may already have your Christmas shopping done – but not meJ). I enjoy planning for Thanksgiving dinner and not having to worry about any gifts.

This is the best time of the year for college football Saturdays!  As I watch football, I am working on my grandsons outfits for the holidays.  Then I will have to get in gear for multiple trips to see Santa with the boys.  In the meantime, I am gathering recipes for Thanksgiving and have made several trips to Sur la Table – what a fun store! I have Thanksgiving at my house for 25-30 people and look forward to our old family recipes as well as some of the new dishes we try each year.
I must reflect on all of my blessings as well, counting each of you among them.  I hope that each of you has a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.  God bless.
See you Tuesday!

Happy Fall Y’all!

I am ready for Fall!  Kittie inspired me to go ahead and plant my pansies and mums.  I know it is almost 90 degrees outside- but I’m ready.  I do have to get up earlier in order to water everything before I go to work, but it is so worth it! I just don’t like it being so dark in the mornings.

I love this time of year - with football (let me say ‘college’ football) and the change in the colors of the trees, fall festivals and events. I am keeping up with friends who have the pictures of their children in the cotton fields or fields of sunflowers –so cute and we are fortunate to have both here.  I have made my grandsons a couple of cute football outfits and I am working on pumpkin outfits, and eventually I’ll get to the Thanksgiving outfits.      I am beginning to think about Christmas but do not want to rush into it!

Seeing Kittie’s sewing room inspired me to go through mine and straighten things up. Mine is still a work-in-progress.  Thank you Kittie for sharing yours!  Thank you too for feeding us – dinner was great!

Hope everyone will be able to come Tuesday!

See you then.
Phyllis

Thoughts from Phyllis
Happy Fall everyone!  Now that school is officially back for everyone – I must say- I love routine. I say that even though I am on vacation this week in Florida.  We are in Destin and the weather is beautiful.  (Calm before the storm as they say.)  The grandchildren are out of their routines and are having a great time but they are worn out at the end of each day.
While I have been here I have gone to T.J.’s Fabrics which is a fabric store.  They have quite a few children’s prints, patterns, applique and so many cute ideas!  The ladies were very helpful. I have some new ideas to bring back to Lace Cottage.

One of our newest projects at Lace Cottage will be held Friday (9/8) night – making pillowcases for the hurricane victims of Texas.  We will be working on those at our Sew-In Friday night from 6-9pm.  Please join us if you would like.  We have a church we are sending them to in order to distribute them.  If you can’t make it Friday night, please come by the shop and pick up a couple to make at your home- return them to the shop and we will make sure they get to the church.

Susan, we are keeping you and your family in our prayers as well.  You are an inspiration to us for your strength through this.

I can’t wait to get to see Kittie’s newly finished sewing room on Tuesday!
See you then!

Thoughts from Phyllis

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer.  I can’t wait to hear about the vacations you have been on and interesting things you have done over the summer.  I have been here – just working…taking care of my grandchildren…and sewing a little.  I am ready to get back in the swing of things!  Ready to get back to routine, Fall, and football!

We were busy over the summer at Lace Cottage with our Sew-Ins.  Some of you have joined us – they have been fun and productive. We will continue to have them at least once a month through the fall so if you get time, plan to come!

I know we have had a few grandbabies born this summer – remember to bring pictures of your little ones!

See you Tuesday!
