February, 2017

Our monthly meeting will be Tuesday, February 14th at 7:00 pm. All are welcome! Please join us! Bring a friend! We will meet at Holiday Ham for dinner at 5:30. Our program will be getting ready for our Smocking Tea on February 18th – a fun night is planned!

VaP (Vivian and Phyllis) Vibes

February is National Smocking Month!  If you haven’t checked out the National SAGA Facebook page – you should!  There is a wonderful picture and story of a piece of history.

February will be busy with our members’ grandchildren and great nieces and nephews arriving throughout the month.  Vivian, Kittie and I all have little ones arriving shortly.

Our Tea is set for February 18th from 3:30 - 5:30 pm at Lace Cottage. I hope you all saw the invitation online – thank you to Virginia for the beautiful invitation!  (I want to just hang around her for a whole day – I would learn so much!)   We will demonstrate smocking items, have smocked articles displayed, and have refreshments.  I hope everyone has it on their calendar!

I don’t know how many of you were ‘filled in’ about our January meeting but there were some great ideas for this year- one being to work on our Wee Care Gowns at our meeting.  Regina is working on this for us.

In the meantime, I am working on several items for my new grandson coming February 17th!

See you Tuesday!

Wee Care Gowns Workday– 4th Tuesday of Each Month from  January – October
Mark your calendar! Our next Wee Care Workday (9:30 – 2:00) will be February 28th at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (Poplar Pike). Please make plans to come for all or part of the day -  it would be a great help. We need folks to bring sewing machines to sew the outfits that have been pinned. Many kudos to those working at our last workday –  Connie Scott, Regina Sanford, Glynda Whitlow, Jane Gross, Jane Soffos and Susan Batson.

Our Librarian, Glynda

Germantown UMC has requested that our library cabinet be removed from the kitchen to the alcove in the meeting room for safety issues. Sara Schwab and I will unload it. We need Guild members on Tuesday night, Feb 14 to help decide what should be kept and what should be discarded. This can be worked on along with putting together the kits for the tea. Thank you for your help.
