Thoughts from Phyllis
Happy Fall Y’all!
I am ready for Fall!
Kittie inspired me to go ahead and plant my pansies and mums. I know it is almost 90 degrees outside- but
I’m ready. I do have to get up earlier
in order to water everything before I go to work, but it is so worth it! I just
don’t like it being so dark in the mornings.
I love this time of year - with football (let me say
‘college’ football) and the change in the colors of the trees, fall festivals
and events. I am keeping up with friends who have the pictures of their
children in the cotton fields or fields of sunflowers –so cute and we are
fortunate to have both here. I have made
my grandsons a couple of cute football outfits and I am working on pumpkin
outfits, and eventually I’ll get to the Thanksgiving outfits. I am beginning to think about Christmas
but do not want to rush into it!
Seeing Kittie’s sewing room inspired me to go through
mine and straighten things up. Mine is still a work-in-progress. Thank you Kittie for sharing yours! Thank you too for feeding us – dinner was
great!
Hope everyone will be able to come Tuesday!
See you then.
Phyllis
Program
Our
program will be given by Kristen Woodward to smock a coin purse.
Materials
she has asked us to bring:
We will be work on the
smocking and blocking this month. You will need to pleat your outer piece for
your coin purse prior to the meeting. Cut 2 pieces 5 inches by 12 inches and
pleat with 11 half space rows.
Cut 2 pieces for your lining fabric 5 inches by 6 inches.
You'll also need a needle for smocking and coordinating floss. See attached pictures for inspiration.
Wee
Care Gowns Workday– 4th Tuesday of Each Month from January – October.
Mark your calendar
for our next Wee Care Workday will be the 4th
Tuesday in October – October 24, 2017 at
Lord of Life Lutheran Church (Poplar Pike). Please make plans to
come for all or part of the day -
it would be a great help. We need folks to bring sewing machines to sew the outfits that have been pinned.
This
will be our last Wee Care workday until
January, so it would be great to have extra hands to help assemble these
precious outfits!
Many
kudos to those working at our last workday –
Regina Sanford, Glynda Whitlow, DiAnne Drennan, Amy Johnson, and Jane
Soffos.
